ABOUT NEA DIVINE INTERVENTION

NEA Divine recognizes individuals with persistent mental illness, chronic substance abuse, and intellectual disabilities. Divine is aware that substance abuse disorders are multidimensional and therefore focus on the biopsychosocial model to incorporate skills and supports that are strained due to the individual’s inability to function effectively within their natural environment. Today we know that addiction is a chronic health condition that is preventable and can be treated.

We embrace the concepts espoused by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), and Arkansas Peer Support Model. At the heart of the recovery movement is the idea of shifting focus from the disease or pathological aspect of the illness, emphasis should be on strengths and potential for success. We believe that by integrating and honoring our community’s needs and creating an optimistic, inclusive atmosphere conducive to bring about and sustain change increases the propensity for recovery. Research has shown that recovery happens in communities and that peer-run facilities yield improvement in decreased hospitalizations, larger social support networks, and enhances self-esteem and social functioning.
